BANGUED, ABRA – Over 5,000 village, town and provincial leaders of Abra’s local party “Asenso” led by Governor Maria Jocelyn “Joy” Bernos forged links with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s “Hugpong ng Pagbabago” on Tuesday (November 20) here.
By far the first and biggest gathering of local political leaders in Abra’s history, Governor Valera-Bernos beamed, “(what Hugpong dreams of Philippine society) is what is also Asenso is dreaming of Abra. A clean and peaceful province.”
“We had long wanted to shed away the stigma of a province wrought by violence,” she added. “Ang mga taga-Abra ay gusto na ang lugar namin ay maging maunlad.”
Asenso has under its umbrella 25 of the 27 town mayors in Abra.
Abra lawmaker Joseph “JB” Bernos, brother-in-law of Governor Valera-Bernos, and also a leading pillar in Asenso, was also with the local leaders in welcoming Mayor Duterte and HnP senatoriables Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu, former Presidential spokesman Atty. Harry Roque, Sen. JV Ejercito, former Presidential Adviser Francis Tolentino and Cavite lawmaker Lani Mercado-Revilla representing Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
Also witnessing the Hugpong and Asenso forging of ties were Governors Jayvee Tyron L. Uy, Anthony del Rosario, Nelson Dayanghirang, Claude Bautista and Ryan Singson.
“We believe that, Asenso and Hugpong share the same vision and objectives for the society,” the lady governor said, as the Davao City mayor and presidential daughter was adopted “daughter of Abra” bearing the name “Dulimaman”.
“Dulimaman” is a heroine of the Tingguian epic “Wadagan and Dulimaman” who embodies the characteristics of a great female Tingguian’s courage, wisdom and compassion. “Dulimaman” is the Tingguian version of Gabriela Silang.
As a “dear sister” to the Abrenios, Mayor Duterte encouraged full support to all the Asenso leaders while soliciting reciprocal support to the Hugpong’s bets in the Senate as “people aligned with real change in society”. ACE ALEGRE / ABN
